OPPOSITIONAL DEFIANT DISORDER (ODD)
I help children and parents understand the meaning of their oppositional behavior while teaching coping skills to help them manage their emotions.
In my work with children exhibiting oppositional behaviors, I draw upon a multifaceted approach that integrates insight-oriented and practical strategies. Through Regulation Focused Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, we explore the underlying emotional needs and experiences that may be fueling their oppositional behavior. This fosters a deeper understanding of the child's inner world, empowering them to gain insight into their own motivations and develop healthier coping mechanisms. Additionally, I incorporate techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to equip children with concrete skills for managing their emotions. These evidence-based approaches teach children valuable strategies for identifying and regulating their emotions, improving communication, and fostering positive relationships. By combining these approaches, I aim to provide children with both the understanding and the tools they need to navigate their emotional challenges effectively, leading to a more peaceful and fulfilling life.
