Ira Lowinger, Psy.D.

My Treatment Approach

I believe in providing a safe and confidential space for my clients to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I work with my clients to develop a deep understanding of themselves and their relationships, and to identify and change patterns that are no longer serving them.

I am committed to empowering individuals to embark on a transformative journey towards self-discovery and personal growth. I strive to foster a trusting and collaborative partnership with my clients, where they feel safe to share their innermost thoughts and feelings without judgment.

Child Psychotherapy

My child and adolescent therapy approach focuses on empowering young minds through a comprehensive and empathetic approach. I tailor therapy to the unique needs of each client, utilizing a combination of play and talk therapy. Play therapy allows children to explore emotions, develop problem-solving skills, and learn positive interactions. Talk therapy helps adolescents process thoughts and emotions, develop insights into their behavior, and learn coping mechanisms. I create a safe and supportive environment for young people to express themselves and work through challenges. My approach has helped children and adolescents build self-esteem, improve relationships, and reach their full potential.

Adult Psychotherapy

My adult psychotherapy work focuses on helping individuals understand the patterns in their current relationships that stem from their past experiences. The therapeutic relationship is central to this process, as it provides a safe and confidential space for clients to explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Treatment can vary from one to four times per week, depending on the depth of work needed, with psychoanalysis being an option for those seeking more in-depth exploration. Through this work, clients gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationships, enabling them to make positive changes and live more fulfilling lives.

Parent Consultation

In working with families of child clients, I adopt a psychodynamic approach that focuses on understanding the underlying dynamics within the family system. I collaborate closely with parents to gain insights into their child's behavior patterns and emotional struggles. Through parent skills training and developmental support, I empower parents to become more effective and attuned caregivers. By fostering a strong therapeutic alliance with both the child and their parents, I facilitate open communication and problem-solving, helping them work together to address challenges, strengthen their bond, and get the child back on a healthy developmental path.
